Where in the world is Fleet Robinson?

Something disturbing happened today. As the sacred guardian of the earthly abode of Fleet Robinson, with regret I come here to inform that he has gone missing. No trace whatsoever. There’s something: he has left on top of his desk his treasured copy of The Doctrine and Ritual of High Magic by Éliphas Lévi, which in itself is suspicious. He wouldn’t go on a trip, even a small one, without it. For this reason, I’m assuming the worst.

He’s not who people think he is

For those who don’t know yet, Fleet Robinson isn’t who people think he is. That’s an assumed name, of that I’m certain. From what I could find out, he has also led a double life. Rumour has it he is much older than his appearance would suggest. Some place his birthday around 1882 near a brook on the outskirts of London. When he was five years old, his parents took part in the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn’s foundation in 1887, but he was too young to join. He waited, and when became of age, joined the esteemed secret society, assuming the motto De Rivo Natus.

Secret Chief

His ascendancy in the ranks of the Golden Dawn was fleet-footed. In a few years, he reached the status of Secret Chief, where he served many people in their spiritual growth. After the Golden Dawn’s dissolution, he always found fresh groups where he would expand and share esoteric knowledge.

Christian Rosenkreuz

My suspicion is that something similar to Christian Rosenkreuz of the Rosicrucians may have happened to him. Today he was supposed to be 144 years old, a cabalistic number in itself, 12 x 12. His allotted time on this earth expired, and he reached other realms. But I’m not ready to give up yet.

Ancient Rituals

Having had the opportunity of consulting his grimoires many times, I often see sigils and anagrams of known names that conceal some obscure significance. Since I’m determined to understand it, I have performed rituals, which I’m describing so that you don’t need to repeat them: they didn’t bring him back. I have discovered the following anagrams for the name Fleet Robinson.

🔥 BONFIRE STOLEN 🔥

🔥 BONFIRE STOLEN—For this invocation I drew a pentagram inside a circle on the floor and ignited some scented candles that we always have around the house. I have intoned this name with great solemnity. Nothing happened, except that the smoke alarm went off.

🌊 BORN OF NILE SET 🌊

🌊 BORN OF NILE SET—This has everything to do with the Egyptian god Set of chaos and storms. Nobody better than me to cause mischief, so this ritual was made for me. I stormed the house and sowed chaos by knocking things off shelves and vomiting on the carpet. Still, no sign of Fleet.

⛲️ NOBLE RITE FONS ⛲️

⛲️ NOBLE RITE FONS—I produced guttural sounds and intoned this name in what I believe to be the right Latin pronunciation. This name has to do with the primordial fountain, even the Alchemical Mercurial Fountain. I went to my fountain and drank from it. Again, nothing happened apart from the neighbour’s dog barking outside, wanting to take part in the ritual.

🐈 FELINE ‘N’ ROBOTS 🤖

There’s only one last anagram to be incanted, but I refuse to do it. It’s beneath me, and I need to draw a line in the litter box sand. 🐈 FELINE ‘N’ ROBOTS 🤖 isn’t anything esoteric, and if he has chosen his name based on this motto, it was to mock me, and I won’t entertain it.

I have been waiting since 4pm. It is now 4:07pm.

If you have seen Fleet Robinson, please advise him that his cat requires supper.

Sub Umbra Alarum Tuarum — though, right now I’d settle for tuna.

Thomas, Keeper of the Altar (self-appointed)

Felis catus, Grade 0∴0∴, Probationer

Thomas, the cat

* Felis (Latin for cat) was a constellation created by French astronomer Jérôme Lalande in 1799. He chose the name partly because, as a cat lover, he felt sorry that there was not yet a cat among the constellations (although there are two lions and a lynx). It was between the constellations of Antlia and Hydra.
